Ex-DMP commissioner barred from going Bangkok

Former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruk was barred at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital from going Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, on Saturday night.

The airport sources confirmed this on Sunday morning.

Immigration officer quizzing him after he approached the immigration counter at the airport's departure area. Later, he was not able to boarded on plane.
According to the airport sources, Golam Faruk, also retired additional IGP, was scheduled to go to Bankok by Thai Airways TG-340 flight on a personal trip. But the immigration police barred him leaving the country.

Golam Faruk has a US green card, it was learnt.

Currently, he was under immigration police custody.
