Boy drowns in Cox’s Bazar beach

COX'S BAZAR, Oct 26: A 17-year-old boy drowned while swimming at Seagull Point of Cox's Bazar Beach on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mahmud, son of Didarul Islam, a resident of the PM Khali area in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila.

Osman Goni, senior in-Charge of Cox's Bazar Sea Safe Lifeguard, confirmed the matter.

Mahmud had been playing football with friends near Seagull Point around 11 am before they entered the sea to swim. During the swim, Mahmud was swept away by the waves, said Osman.

Rescuers later brought him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.    —UNB
