109 AL men, including 2 Ex-MPs sued in Manikganj

A murder case has been filed against 109 Awami League leaders and activists, including two former Members of Parliament (MPs), Momtaz Begum and Dewan Zahid Ahmed Tulu, in Manikganj district over the killing of a man during a Hartal called by Hifazat-e-Islam in 2013.

Moznu Mollah, the father of the deceased Nazim Uddin, filed the case with Singair Police Station on Friday night, mentioning 109 individuals along with an unnamed 500-600 people.

The other prime accused in the case are Abdul Mazed, president of the district Awami League; former Upazila Chairmen Mushfiqur Rahman Khan Hannan and Sayedul Islam; former mayors Mir Md Shajahan and Abu Nayem Md Basar; and Awami League leaders Sahidur Rahman, Barek Khan, Lutfar Rahman, and Romzan Ali.

"According to the case statement, Nazim Uddin, along with four others, was shot to death by the accused when they attacked with various weapons during a day-long Hartal on February 24, 2013."
