Hasanat Abdullah's son remanded in murder case

Moin Abdullah, son of former chief whip Abul Hasanat Abdullah, has been placed on five-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Jauba Dal leader Shamim in 2023. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ragib Nur passed the order on Saturday afternoon, after investigation office of the case Tanmoy Kumar Bishwas, sub-inspector of Paltan police station, produced Moin before the court and pleaded for 10-day demand.

After hearing of both sides, the magistrate placed Moin on 5-day remand. 

Earlier, detectives arrested Moin Abdullah, also the paternal cousin of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, from a house at Gulshan-2 in the capital around 3:30AM on Saturday.

According the case documents, BNP called a grand rally on October 28 , 2023. The Awami League also called a rally on the same day.

 An attack with the association of police personnel carried out on the BNP, leaving many activists injured. Later, Juba Dal leader Shamim died.

A case has been filed on September 24, 2024 with the Paltan police Station.
