30 nabbed with drugs in 14 districts

A total of 30 people including six women have been arrested along with drugs in separate drives in 14 districts - Sherpur, Habiganj, Rajbari, Dhaka, Khulna, Natore, Sunamganj, Rajshahi, Gazipur, Kurigram, Bagerhat, Kushtia, Barishal and Brahmanbaria, in recent times. 
NALITABARI, SHERPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, arrested an ethnic boy along with 18 bottles of Indian liquor from Nalitabari Upazila in the district on Wednesday night. 
He was handed over to Nalitabari Police Station (PS) on Thursday morning.
The arrested teenager is Joydev Coach, 18, son of Badhan Coach, a resident of Khalchanda Coachpara Village under Poragaon Union in the upazila. 
It was known that on information, a team of RAB-14, CPC-1, from Jamalpur Camp conducted a drive in Chhaichakura area under Nanni Union of the upazila at around 8:45 pm, and detained Joydev along with the Indian liquor.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Nalitabari PS, the arrested was handed over to the police on Thursday morning. 
RAB-14, CPC-1, Jamalpur Camp Commander Senior ASP Md Nazmul Islam, PPM, confirmed the matter. 
HABIGANJ: Members of RAB, in a drive, arrested a man with 66 kilograms of hemp from Madhabpur Upazila of the district early Tuesday.
The detainee was identified as Tareq Hossain, 48, hailed from Gandhobpur Village in the upazila.
Media Officer of RAB-9 ASP Moshiur Rahman said that on information, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Krishnanagar area of the upazila at early hours and arrested Tareq Hossain along with the hemp.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Madhabpur PS, the arrested man was handed over to the police, the RAB official added.
RAJBARI: Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a female drug peddler along with 50 litres of liquor from Goalanda Upazila in the district on Monday night. 
The arrested woman is Moryom Begum, 42, hails from Bagerhat District. She lives in a rented house at Daulatdia prostitution area. 
It was known that acting on a tip-off, a team of DB Police conducted a drive at Westpara Sakina under Daulatdia prostitution area at night, and arrested her from a house along with the drugs. 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of District DB Police Md Moniruzzaman Khan confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with the PS concerned in this connection.
SAVAR, DHAKA: Members of RAB-4, in a drive, arrested two alleged drug smugglers along with 32 kilograms of hemp from Jirabo area of Ashulia Union in Savar Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested individuals are: Mohammad Saddam, 35, and Mohammad Shamsher Ali, 31. Both of them are residents of Kathua area in Madhabpur Upazila of Habiganj District.
According to RAB sources, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-4 conducted a drive in Jirabo area under Ashulia Union in Savar and arrested the duo red-handed along with the drugs. They also seized a pickup truck used for transporting the drug.
During initial questioning, it was revealed that they had been smuggling hemp from various locations across the country including Savar, Dhaka and Dhamrai.
The RAB sources also said that the estimate market value of the seized drugs is around Tk 10 lakh.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against the arrested with Ashulia PS regarding this matter, the RAB sources added.
KOYRA, KHULNA: A joint force, in a drive, arrested two individuals along with three kilograms of hemp and a locally made firearm from Koyra Upazila in the district recently.
A press release from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the information.
The arrested persons are: Yusuf Dali, 45, a resident of Ward No. 4, and Sadikur Rahman, 38, of Ward No. 2 under Koyra Municipality.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Bangladesh Navy and police personnel raided Koyra area and arrested the duo along with three kilograms of hemp, a locally made weapon, three mobile phone sets and a motorcycle, reads the press release.
The both, who are also accused in several drugs and rape cases, were handed over to Koyra PS to take further actions, said the notification.
Confirming the matter, Koyra PS OC Shah Alam said that a case has been filed with the PS under the Narcotics Control Act and the accused were sent to the jail.
NATORE: Members of RAB, in a drive, arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with 37 kilograms of hemp from Singra Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested persons are: Faruk Mia, and Akash Ali, residents of Shahjadpur Upazila in Sirajganj; and Rana Mia, of Lalmonirhat District.
Natore RAB Camp Company Commander Captain Hafiz Al Azad confirmed the information, adding that being tipped-off, a joint team of RAB personnel from Rajshahi and Natore RAB camps set a check-post in Ningoin area and halted a covered van. While checking the vehicle, they recovered a total 37 kilograms of hemp and Tk 52,170 in cash. The team then arrested the trio.
During primary questioning, the arrested confessed that they were involved in drug dealing for a long time, said the RAB official.
Singra PS OC Asmaul Haque confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with the PS against the arrested in this regard.
DHARMAPASHA, SUNAMGANJ: Two drug peddlers were arrested along with 150 pieces of yaba tablets and 800 grams of hemp from Dharmapasha Upazila in the district recently. 
The arrested men are: Sgah Jahan, 45, and Raza Mia, residents of Islampur Village under Sukhair Razapur North Union in the upazila. 
Police sources said on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Islampur area of the upazila, and detained them along with the yaba tablets and the hemp.
The arrested drug peddlers were sent to the district jail following a court order after filing of a case against them with the PS under the Narcotics Control Act.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dharmapasha PS Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter.
RAJSHAHI: Four people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in the district recently. 
DB Police arrested an alleged female drug peddler along with three kilograms of heroin from Godagari Upazila in the district. 
The arrested woman is Shima Begum, 35, a resident of Kanpara Village under Godagari Upazila.
It was known that acting on a tip-off, a team of DB Police conducted a drive in Kanpara area and arrested Shima Begum and recovered            three kilograms of heroin from her possession.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Godagari PS in this connection and the arrested person with the seized contraband goods produced before the court.
On the other hand, police arrested a youth with three kilograms of hemp in the city. 
The arrested youth is Md Ibrahim, 22, hails from Shibganj Upazila in Chapainawabganj District.
The information was given through a press release by Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP). 
It said that a team of police conducted a drive in Kesuatoila area under Chandrima PS in the city and arrested Ibrahim with the drugs. 
Later on, he was sent to the jail through the court after filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act against him, the press release added.
Police, in another anti-crime drive, arrested an alleged drug peddler with 2.4 kilograms of heroin from Godagari Upazila of the district.
The arrested is Sirajul Islam, 28, of Sujanagar area under Shahmukhdum PS in Rajshahi City.
 It was known that acting on a tip-off, a team of DB Police conducted a drive at Rajabari area under Godagari Upazila and arrested Sirajul Islam and recovered 2.4 kilograms of heroin from his possession.
A case was recorded with Godagari PS under the Narcotics Control Act in this connection and the arrested person with the seized contraband goods produced before the court.
Meanwhile, RAB members, in an operation, arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 40 kilograms of hemp in the district. 
The arrested man is Dalim Hossain, 38, a resident of Baneshwar Village under Puthia Upazila in the district.
 RAB sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the the elite force conducted a drive in a mango-orchard of Baneswar area and arrested him along with the hemp red-handed.
The arrestee with the seized contraband goods was handed over to the police.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Puthia PS in this connection.
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Police arrested a drug dealer along with 20 yaba tablets from Kaliganj Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested person is Kamal Hossain, 35, son of Abdul Basir Uddin, a resident of Manikpur Village under Tumilia Union in the upazila. 
He is a listed drug dealer and an accused in four cases filed with Kaliganj PS. 
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Manikpur area and detained Kamal along with the yaba tablets.
A new case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Kaliganj PS against him in this connection. 
Kaliganj PS OC Md Alauddin confirmed the matter.
PHULBARI, KURIGRAM: Police arrested three female drug peddlers along with 60 bottles of Isfaf (similar to phensedyl) from Phulbari Upazila in the district recently. 
The arrested women are: Mst Bonna Aktar Sumi, 25; Mst Dulali Aktar, 30; and Mst Renuka Begum, 57. All of them are from Bogura District. 
Addition Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Kurigram AKM Wahidunnabi said that acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in Shimulbari area of the upazila and arrested the trio along with the drugs. 
The arrested women were sent to the jail after filing of a case was against them under the Narcotics Control Act, the ASP added.
BAGERHAT: Police arrested a ward boy of Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex in the district along with 50 yaba tablets and 25 grams of hemp recently.
The arrested is Mehedi Hasan Sajib, 38, son of Matiur Hasan Khalifa, a resident of Sankibhanga Village under the upazila. 
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforce conducted a drive in Kheya Ghat area adjacent to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex, and arrested him red-handed while he was selling the drugs. 
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Morrelganj PS, the arrested was produced before the court. 
Morrelganj PS OC Mohammad Shamsuddin confirmed the matter.
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: Members of RAB-12 arrested a drug dealer along with four kilograms of hemp from Daulatpur Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested man is Md Yarul Islam, 47, son of late Khedu Mandal, a resident of Shehala Village in the upazila. 
RAB-12 sources said that on information, a team of the elite force led by its CPC-1 Kushtia Camp Company Commander Squadron Leader Mohammad Ilias Khan conducted a drive in Shehala area and detained Yarul along with the hemp. 
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Daulatpur PS, the arrested man was handed over to the police, the RAB-12 sources added. 
BARISHAL: Army personnel arrested six people including a couple along with drugs from Wazirpur Upazila in the district recently.
It was known that on information, a team of Bangladesh Army from Wazirpur Camp led by its Commander Captain Md Yasir Arafat  conducted a drive in Ward No. 5 under Otra Union of the upazila, and detained a couple along with hemp.
The arrested persons are: Liton Bepari, 38, and his wife Mahmuda Begum, 30, residents of the area. 
In another drive, army personnel also detained four youths red-handed while they were consuming hemp in a house of the same area.
All of the arrested were then handed over to Wazirpur Model PS after filing of separate cases under the Narcotics Control Act. 
Wazirpur Army Camp Commander Captain Yasir Arafat confirmed the matter, adding that such drives will continue in the upazila.
BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA: The joint force detained the general secretary of Bijoynagar Upazila Unit of Mohila Awami League (AL) in the district and her husband along with drugs recently.
The arrested persons are: Nilufa Yasmin, 40, GS of the upazila unit of Mohila AL, and her husband Minar Mia, 60, son of Md Nazimuddin Prakash alias Janu Mia, residents of Islampur Village under Budhanti Union.
It was known that on information, a team of the joint force led by its Commander Captain Mahim Mezbah conducted a drive in the house of Minar Mia, and detained the couple along with the drugs.
Later on, the arrested persons were handed over to the police after filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Bijoynagar PS.
Bijoynagar PS OC Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter.
