The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad for the Chittagong Test against South Africa on Thursday making one change as Khaled Ahmed replaced Taskin Ahmed.
Although Taskin did not play in the first Test, where Hasan Mahmud was the sole fast bowler in the playing XI, he has been rested to manage his workload ahead of a busy schedule.
After the South Africa series, Bangladesh will travel to the United Arab Emirates for a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, followed by a full tour of the West Indies, which includes two Tests, three ODIs and three T20i matches. Along with Taskin, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam was also excluded from the Chittagong Test squad to manage his workload for the upcoming tours.
Khaled, 32, was part of the squad for the recent tour of India but was dropped for the first Test against South Africa. He now makes a comeback after missing one match. During the first Test against South Africa, Khaled participated in the first round of the National Cricket League for Sylhet, where he took four wickets for 61 runs in Dhaka's only innings at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Bangladesh lost the first Test by seven wickets and will need to win the second Test starting on October 29 to avoid a series defeat.
