Police arrested two local Awami League leaders from Brahmanbaria's Sadar upazila early Friday.
The arrested men are Mahmudur Rahman Manna, 55, former vice chairman of Bijoynagar upazila, and Adel Md Jahangir, 56, vice-president of the Bijoynagar upazila AL unit.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid in the Brahmanbaria municipal area at around 3:00am and arrested them from Kandipara and Payakpara areas respectively, said Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station.
Legal procedures are underway in this regard, the OC added.
