Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday announced the names of the elected district and metropolis Ameers for 2025-26.
The party's Amir, Dr Shafiqur Rahman, made the announcement at the central working council meeting held at the party's central office in Moghbazar.
Shafiqur Rahman stated, "People are now free from dictatorship. In the July-August united movement, thousands of students and citizens sacrificed their lives and lost their body parts to establish democracy in the country."
He emphasised the need for united efforts to establish the rule of law, justice, human rights, and voting rights for the people.
Shafiqur Rahman called on people from all classes and professions, including political parties, social institutions, intellectuals, journalists, and academics, to remain united while keeping the spirit of the July-August revolution in their hearts.
Jamaat Naib Amir Professor Mujibur Rahman, Dr Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, along with Central Executive Council and Central Working Council members, attended the meeting.
Mohammad Salim Uddin and Nurul Islam Bulbul were re-elected as Ameers of the Dhaka North and Dhaka South committees, respectively. Both are members of the Central Executive Council of Jamaat.
