Describing the last three general elections in the country as illegal, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement coordinator Hasnat Abdullah has called for trying Awami League for killing democracy.
"Awami League should be awarded death sentence for killing democracy," he said.
According to Hasnat Abdullah, the constitution of 1972 is now irrelevant. In the last 16 years, three general elections were conducted claiming to maintain the continuity of the constitution. After the August 5, should the students and people shoulder the responsibility of maintaining continuity of the constitutiuon?
Hasnat Abdullah was speaking at a discussion on "Journey of democracy, ensuing challenges and ways to overcome those" was organised at Bangla Academy on Thursday (October 24) afternoon. Brain and Adarsha Prokashani organised the discussion.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul, Constitution Reform Committee's head Ali Reaz, political analyst Zahed ur Rahman, Shahed Alam, Monir Haider, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's coordinator Umama Fatema, Sarjisb Alam and Sayyed Abdullah, among others, were present.
