Some 10 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) brought out a procession from near Madhur Canteen on Dhaka University (DU) campus in very early hours on Wednesday.
At this time, the protesters were seen covering their faces with black masks and wearing black caps.
In the meantime, the university administration identified one of them and was trying to apprehend him.
However, a 46-second video of the brief procession went viral on social media as it was the first comeback of BCL after the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5.
They chanted various slogans including 'Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu'.
They also chanted slogans against the Yunus-led interim government and said that Sheikh Hasina would return to the country soon.
"It was difficult to identify them as they wore masks. But we somehow identified one of them. As per information that I have received, he was a Vice President of a unit of the BCL. I came to learn his address too. The police are trying to apprehend him," DU Proctor Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed told the Daily Observer in the evening.
The Proctor noted that once the identified leader is arrested, the law enforcement agencies would be able to apprehend others.
Meanwhile, DU chapter of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir condemned and protested the BCL procession on an empty campus in very early morning.
A press release issued by the unit's Publicity and Media Secretary, Hosain Ahmad Jubayer, said that BCL proved to be the worst enemy of the country and humanity as it indulged in murder, oppression, torture for the past 16 years and July massacre.
DU Shibir demanded ban on BCL and declaring July 17 as 'Terrorism Resistance Day on Campus'.
