"Fascist Awami League has no right to do politics in the democratic structure of Bangladesh. The way Awami League did its politics in the past will never come back in future, if we are still alive then we would never allow them to do that," said Adviser Nahid Islam on Wednesday evening.
He made the remarks in a seminar 'Government of Mass Uprising: Prospect and Attainment' organised by 'Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) JU chapter' at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium of Jahangirnagar University.
The programme was moderated by Mushiq-us-Salehin while Political Analyst Dr Zahed Ur Rahman, Member Secretary of Jatiya Nagorik Committee Akhtar Hossain, ADSM Coordinator Arif Sohel were present as discussants.
Terming the incumbent government as the government of mass uprisings, Nahid said, "The incumbent government is not a caretaker government. It's a post mass uprising government constituted to reform different sectors so that no fascist system will ever back again in any form."
"If we look back at outgoing regimes, the law enforcers, judiciary, and media could not ensure our safety and security. Our constitution also didn't protect us. We have to introduce a new state framework," said the Adviser for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, citing the absence of minimum human rights and safety of life in the prevailing fascist system.
Articulating the reason for taking oath from the President Mohammad Shahabuddin, the Adviser said, "We take oath ornamentally from the President to ensure the safety and stability of the state following the fall of Sheikh Hasina. The President and the constitution were ineffective through the revolution. If it is necessary to reconsider it as per the people's desire then we also do it."
"Sheikh Hasina did not resign in a systematic process rather she was forcibly removed or compelled to resign by the students and masses," he added.
He said, "The context of the mass uprising cannot be considered in terms of 36 days, rather, its inception was on one eleven, when the de-politicization also begun by introducing Awami fascism."
