SANTHIA, PABNA, Oct 23: About half kilometre (km) road from the pucca road of the Ichhamati River dyke in Boro Paiksha Village under Dhopadah Union in Santhia Upazila to Paiksha Government Primary School has been deplorable.

Both locals and students are suffering communication on this road. They demand metalising the road soon. A little rain causes water logging on the road.

A recent visit found the half-km road in worse condition; it has no water passing system.

An irrigation canal of the Water Development Board has been made beside  the school, without keeping water-passing system in the north. That is why rain  creates water stranding on the road.

Locals Azmat Ali, Sabuj Hossain, Bachchu Mia, and Moksed Ali said, "This road and houses remain in rain water and clay for almost the whole year. Our children don't want to go to school. Many times their books and clothes get damaged."

Students said, "This is the only road for going to our school."

School Head Teacher Hazrat Ali said, "There are 200 students in our school. Due to water-logging, small children don't want to come to school."

"We applied to different departments. But it did not work. We demand rapid repairing of the road," he added.

Upazila Primary Education Officer Helal Uddin confirmed the deplorable  condition of the road.

"We also face suffering while going for inspection. It is urgent to repair the road."

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jahidul Islam said, "I came to know about the deplorable road through you. If the head teacher applies, necessary steps will be taken."
