Pakistan HC pays courtesy call on JU VC to foster academic ties

Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof paid a courtesy call on Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, said a press release signed by acting Director of Public Relations Office Mohammad Mohiuddin on Tuesday afternoon. 

The courtesy meeting took place at around 3:00pm at the Vice-Chancellor's office while Pro VC (Academic) Prof M Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro VC (Administration) Prof Sohel Ahmed and Treasurer Prof M Abdur Rab, Proctor AKM Rashidul Alam, acting Registrar ABM Azizur Rahman, among others, were present. 

During the visit, the High Commissioner expressed a keen interest in the educational and research activities of Jahangirnagar University. 

In response, JU VC provided an overview of the university's academic and research initiatives, highlighting its commitment to fostering educational excellence.

The discussion also centred on potential collaborations, with the High Commissioner proposing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jahangirnagar University and various Pakistani universities. 

This initiative aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in education and research.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised the significance of educational, research, and cultural exchanges between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The High Commissioner hoped that a Bangladeshi student delegation is expected to visit Pakistan in early 2025, with potential participation from JU students.

Besides, the High Commissioner expressed interest in organising a seminar on Pakistani education and research at Jahangirnagar University, furthering opportunities for collaborative engagement between the two countries.
