Dengue disease spreads at Shibchar

MADARIPUR, Oct 22: The number of dengue patient is increasing in Shibchar Upazila of the  district. 

 Due to rain, the number of people suffering from cold and fever is also increasing day by day in the upazila, mostly children and elderly. 

According to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, the prevalence of the dengue disease has increased due to continued rainfall; every day fever sufferers are coming for treatment along with dengue test; most of the affected patients are receiving treatment at home; and serious patients are receiving treatment in different places including Dhaka.

From September 23 to October 1, 20 people were infected with dengue fever. Six of them were admitted to Shivchar Upazila Health Complex. Besides, 20-25 patients are coming for dengue test every day.

 A woman from Shivchar died of dengue fever in Dhaka.  Chandni Begum of Jaduwarchar area of Baheratla North Union in the upazila was infected by dengue after going to Dhaka.

Due to the change in weather, the number of people suffering from cold and fever is increasing since last month. 

Farrukh Ahmed in Dattapara area in the upazila affected by dengue said, "I got fever affected in last month. Three days later, I went to the health complex and was diagnosed with dengue. Later on, I took treatment at home. I have been suffering for some time. I know better than previous by the grace of Allah." 

Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of ShibcharUpazila Health Complex Md Ibrahim said, the number of dengue fever patients has now increased. Six patients are now admitted to the hospital. Test is being conducted every day. Victims are receiving treatment at home. If it is serious, they are admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and other places, the RMO added.
