A one-year-old girl died after falling into a water bucket at a house in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area on Monday afternoon.
The child was identified as Humaisha, the daughter of Raton Mia, a local spare parts businessman.
Quoting Yasmin Begum, grandmother of the child, Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp, said they lived on the 3rd floor of a 6-storey building in Mohammadpur’s Katasur area.
Humaisha went to the washroom of their house around 4pm while her mother Asma Islam Simu was busy cooking.
Later, she was found inside a water bucket in the washroom. The bucket was filled with water.
The family then rushed her to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared Humaisha dead upon arrival.
"The body has been kept in the hospital morgue," Inspector Faruk added.
