A young man was shot to death allegedly by a group of unidentified assailants in Chandgaon area of Chattogram city on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Aftab Uddin Tahsin, 26, son of Mohammad Musa of Hajirpul in Chandgaon. Locals claimed that he was involved in politics of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Chandgaon Police Station investigation officer Md. Sabed Ali confirmed the incident.
Citing locals, officer-in-charge of the police station Aftab Uddin said that there had been a longstanding dispute between the groups of Sajjad and Sarwar over establishing supremacy. On Monday afternoon, a group of miscreants shot the victim while he was having tea in a stall at Bainna Pool area, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
It is not yet confirmed that whether the incident is related to the dispute or not. Police are investigating the motive behind the shooting and are conducting operations to apprehend those involved, added the OC.
