PIROJPUR, Oct 21: A press briefing was organized in civil surgeon (CS) office conference room on Monday morning on National HPV (human papillomavirus) on Monday.
CS Dr Md Mizanur Rahman presided over the briefing.
CS said, 56,737 girls of the district will come under the vaccination from October 18 for the first time to prevent cervical cancer. The girls are of grade five to nine at different schools and other academic institutions in the district. From Pirojpur Sadar Upazila, there are 5,729 girls, from Indurkani 4,622, Nazirpur 7,374, Nesarabad 10,5625, Kawkhalli 3,918, Bhandaria 7,665, Mathbaria 12,057, Pirojpur Municipality 2,770, and Mathbaria Municipality 2,077.
Permanent and temporary EPI centres have been selected for providing vaccines.
The vaccine programme will continue for eight days after inauguration on October 18.
