Students who failed or got poor marks in the recently published Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exam results, besieged secondary and higher secondary education boards in Dhaka, Chattogram, Cumilla, Mymensingh, Jesshore and Dinajpur on Sunday.

They demanded re-evaluation of the results, branding the published ones discriminatory and questioning the notion of equality in the exams as seven exams were conducted under the Dhaka Education Board but only three were held under the Sylhet Education Board.
The agitating students alleged that errors in subject mapping and improper evaluation of answer scripts resulted in unfair grading. The protesters said they would continue their demonstrations until their results are reassessed.

While breaking into the Dhaka education board at Bakshibazar in the capital at noon, the protesters were obstructed by employees, leaving at least six of the students injured.

At around 1:00pm, a group of students, beginning their procession from the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, forcibly entered the Dhaka board premises after breaking the locks on the main gate.

The protesters claimed they were attacked when entering the board office, with several students reportedly injured in the incident. They demanded justice for the alleged assault.

Conversely, board officials alleged that the agitating students destroyed various rooms including that of board chairman.

Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Prof Tapan Kumar Sarker said that the results of the examinations were published in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Education.

Rezaul Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Chawkbazar Police Station, told reporters, "Students raised allegations of discrepancies in the results. In protest, they were demonstrating in front of the board. At one point, they entered the board's premises. Board employees tried to prevent the students from accessing documents and other materials, which led to some students being injured during the scuffle."

In Jesshore, protesters held a rally and besieged the education board at 11:00am.

During the protest in front of the board, Secretary Prof Abdur Rahim spoke to the students.

However, they insisted on meeting the board chairman. After the gate was opened, they continued their protest in front of the chairman's office.

Over a hundred students who failed the HSC examinations under the Cumilla Education Board protested, demanding their results be changed to passing grades.

At around 11:30am, the protesters gathered at the Cumilla Education Board premises, initially protesting for their results to be revised from fail to pass.

They later attempted to enter the education board, but security personnel and police blocked their access, directing some to speak to the board chairman.

Students in Chattogran protested by locking the education board office after failing to achieve their desired results in the HSC examinations at noon.

In Mymensingh, students rejected the HSC results, staging protests, blocking roads and besieging the education board office at midday.

They demanded that results be released without discrimination again, based on the mapping of all subjects according to the SSC results.

At around 11:00am, more than a hundred students who failed the HSC exams gathered at the Town Hall intersection from various areas in Mymensingh.

After a brief sit-in, they marched toward the education board office in the city.

Students confined officers and employees for three hours by locking the main gate of education board in Dinajpur.

They later handed over a memorandum to board Chairman Prof SM Abdus Samad demanding their results by mapping the subject results of SSC.
