Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir has been placed on two-day remand in in connection with the murder of trader Rafiqul Islam at Jatrabari in Dhaka.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted two-day remand on Sunday after Sub-Inspector of Jatrabari police station Mahbub Alam and also the Investigation Officer of the case produced him before the court with a prayer of seven-day remand.
On September 16, Shahriar Kabir was arrested from his Banani residence. On September 17, he was placed on a seven-day remand in a case filed with Ramna Model Police Station over the death of house help Liza Akter.
According to the case documents, on July 18, Rafiqul was shot dead by police in front of Monowara Hospital under Jatrabari police station during the anti-discrimination student movement.
The next day, he died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Narjia Begum, wife of Rafiqul Islam, filed a murder case with Jatrabari Thana in connection with the murder on September 1.
