Islamic University (IU) students on Saturday apprehended a leader of the university's Chhatra League unit while he attempted to attend in an examination.
The detained Abdul Alim, is a student of Bangla department under 2018-19 academic year and literary secretary of the IU BCL unit, was detained by general students at 'Rabindra-Nazrul' arts faculty building.
However, the university proctor, student advisor and coordinators of the 'Anti-discrimination student movement' protected the leader from the maddened and excited students, and handed over to the IU police station.
The students' complaint that Alim threatened students during the student movement and has been accused of embezzling the money collected for a sick student and owing money at a shop.
The BCL leader Abdul Alim said, "I came to sit in the exam on my own initiative. I thought I would come late, attend the exam, and leave immediately after that. But I didn’t realize the situation would escalate to this extent."
In this regard, the university's Proctor, Professor Dr Shahinuzzaman, said, "We responded immediately upon learning of the incident. The proctorial body, student advisor, and coordinators rescued him from mob justice and handed him over to the police. The allegations will be investigated before further actions are taken."
