Two laborers tragically lost their lives after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank at an under-construction house in Shaympur Maitka area of Savar on Friday morning.
The victims were identified as Anisul Haque, 40, from Rangpur district, and Sadikul Islam, 30, from Bhola district.
According to Fire Service sources, the incident occurred while the workers were employed at a building site owned by Lal Mia. Anisul entered the septic tank first and soon fell unconscious after inhaling toxic gas. When Sadikul received no response from him, he also entered the tank, only to suffer the same fate.
Local firefighters were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene. They rescued both men in an unconscious state and rushed them to Savar Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctors declared them dead, said Farhaduzzaman, Station Officer of Savar Tannery Fire Service.
