Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed on Tuesday reconstituted a Division bench of the High Court keeping the senior judge out of bench after he misbehaved with a lawyer in the courtroom.

Earlier, in the first half of the day, there was a commotion in the courtroom due to the conversation of senior Justice Ataur Rahman Khan with a lawyer. At one point, the judges left the courtroom. The other judge of the bench was Justice KM Hafizul Alam.

Later, the Chief Justice reconstituted the bench of the High Court after the appeal of the lawyers regarding this incident.

Justice KM Hafizul Alam and Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque will conduct the judicial function on October 16 and 17.

Several lawyers present in the court said that during the anticipatory bail application, at around 11 am, lawyer Ashraf Rahman brought the matter of irregularities in the agenda to the attention of the court.

He alleged that the bench officials had made the cause list and listed chosen item through irregularities and money transactions.

At one stage, the senior judge of the bench said to him, "Know me, I will give you a slap."

Then several lawyers present along with that lawyer objected. A commotion and uproar started with this that lasted at about half an hour in the courtroom. Later, the judges left the courtroom without conducting judicial work.

Later, twenty 26 lawyers submitted a written complaint to Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed. The Chief Justice reconstituted the bench.

In the written complaint, the lawyers alleged that since the beginning of the vacation periods of the Supreme Court  massive irregularities took place in preparing cause list in the court number 7 at the main building. Despite informing the related court through the representatives of the Bar Association, no effective action has been taken to resolve these issues.
