The Ministry of Public Administration has officially appointed 2,064 candidates from the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination to different government cadres, following a recruitment process that spanned nearly four years.
This announcement comes 10 months after the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) recommended the candidates for appointment.
The recruitment order, issued on Tuesday by the New Recruitment Division of the ministry, allocates appointments to several key cadres. These include 293 candidates in the Administration cadre, 96 in the Police cadre, 25 in the Foreign Service cadre, 32 in the Audit and Accounts cadre, and 22 in the Information cadre, among others.
According to the official order, the newly appointed candidates must report to their assigned offices under the supervision of their respective ministries by November 2. If no additional instructions are provided by the cadre-controlling ministries, the candidates are expected to join their designated ministries by this deadline. Failure to do so will be considered a refusal to accept the appointment, leading to the cancellation of the offer.
The appointees are also required to complete basic training at the Public Administration Training Center or another government-assigned institution. This will be followed by professional and specialized training at their respective workplaces. Additionally, the new officers will undergo a two-year probationary period. If found unfit for their roles during this time, they can be dismissed without prior notice or consultation with the Public Service Commission.
The results of the 43rd BCS were published on December 26, 2022, with the BPSC recommending a total of 2,805 candidates, including 2,163 for cadre positions and 642 for non-cadre roles.
The recruitment process began with the preliminary examination on October 29, 2021, which saw 442,832 applicants—the second-highest number in BCS history.
