The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth about Tk over 1.79 crore from Sylhet and Sunamganj frontiers in the last 24 hours, said a press release Tuesday.
In the last 24 hours from October 14, the BGB personnel carried out operations in the border areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts and seized the goods smuggled from India, said a BGB press release signed by Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) Commander Lt. Col Md Hafizur Rahman, BSS reports.
Indian goods included 16,400 kgs of sugar, 2,850 kgs of apple, 369 sarees, seven lehengas, 4,099 sunglasses, 43 cows, nine buffaloes, 980 packets of bidis and 880 kgs of miscellaneous goods.
The estimated seizure value of the seized goods is Taka one crore, 79 lakh, eight thousand , two hundred and fifty.
