Shomi Kaiser sued in defamation case over remarks on Ziaur Rahman

A defamation lawsuit amounting to Tk 100 crore has been filed against actress and political activist Shomi Kaiser for allegedly making derogatory remarks about BNP founder and former president, Ziaur Rahman. 

The case was filed by Md Rezwan Kabir with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Magura on Sunday.

According to the plaintiff's lawyer, Advocate Kazi Minhaj, the complaint centers on Shomi Kaiser's alleged comment in which she referred to Ziaur Rahman as a "national traitor."

Feeling aggrieved by the remark, the plaintiff pursued legal action, leading the court to direct the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter further.
