Thousands flock to watch traditional boat race in Faridpur

A traditional boat race was held in Faridpur's Alfadanga on Monday. The competition was organized in a wide water reservoir adjacent to Belbana Bazar in the upazila.

Seven small and big boats participated in the competition organized by Bana Union BNP and its affiliates. At the end of the event, the guests distributed prizes to the winners.

According to the organizing committee, children and youth, men and women, all regardless of age are happy to enjoy this festival, which is the oldest of traditional Bengali culture. Thousands of people flocked to the entire area from noon. A festive atmosphere was created by the gathering of people who were eager to see the race.

Boalmari Al-Hasan Women's Madrasa Superintendent Abdul Quddus presided over the ceremony moderated by former joint convenor of Upazila Jubo Dal Liakat Biswas where Faridpur-1 former MP and Krishak Dal Vice President Khandkar Nasirul Islam was present as the chief guest.

Among others, Upazila BNP convener Abdul Mannan Abbas, Municipal BNP convener Rabiul Haque Ripon and upazila BNP member secretary Nuruzzaman Khosru were present at the programme.
