Tourists crowd Cox's Bazar in vacation

COX'S BAZAR, Oct 13: During the four-day official leave on the occasion of Durga Puja, huge crowding of tourists were registered in the district.

Taking advantage of the long vacation, tourists from different parts of the country went to Cox's Bazar. Since Thursday morning, increasing crowds of tourist were seen in beaches and surrounding tourism spots in the district.
 
A visit to Laboni, Sugandha and Kolatali beaches  found  huge gathering of tourists. 

According to field sources, bookings in most hotel-motel and resorts were made till Sunday (Oct 13).

Tourism businesses got a new life, with huge arrival of tourists.

Tourists enjoyed marine drive across 84 kilometre marine drive  road from Kolatali crossing.

Using this road, they went to Darianagar Porjaton Palli, Himchhari Jatiya Uddayan, Inani, Patuartek Pathure Sea beach, Teknaf, Adinath Mandir at Maheshkhali, Ramu Boddha Palli, and Dulhazra Safari Park  at Chakaria.

Over these four days, trading of over Tk 500 crore was registered, business sources said.
 
Online hotel-motel booking was opened according to advice of Federation of Tourism Owners Association of Bangladesh's-Cox's Bazar  General Secretary  and President  of Hotel-motel Owners Association Abul Kashem Sikdar.

To tackle pressures of tourists, tourist police patrolling was intensified, said Assistant Police Superintendent (Tourist Police Cox's Bazar  zone) Abul Kalam.

Marketing Department Chief of Hotel Ocean Paradise Limited-Cox's Bazar Imtiaz Noor Sumel said, "Till Thursday we received 95 per cent booking. Booking till Oct 19 is 80-85 per cent."

Abdur Rahman, vice-president of Greater Beach Businessmen Association and director of Sandy Beach Hotel and Restaurant, said, "After many days, Cox's Bazar regained its original look during the long vacation. We, the businessmen are delighted for huge tourists." 

Assistant General Manager of Hotel Cox To-Day Abu Taleb Shah said, all rooms were booked. 

A tourist and school teacher at Laboni Point Rakibul Islam said, their 30 colleagues reached Cox's Bazar on Friday morning; they enjoyed  beach environment and nature freely.

Yet, they counted higher fares compared to usual time.

Seeing Himchhari stream and beach, a private university student of Dhaka Afajul Kanom became impressed.

Physician Ariful Anwar said, "I enjoyed the beauty of Cox's Bazar with my family."

Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Salauddin said, teams of executive magistrates  are working in fields in order to ensure free movement of travellers. 

They have been instructed to take action if any complaint is received, the DC added.
