Both Bangladesh men's and women's cricket teams are returning home tonight after a series of disappointing performances.
The men's team, who struggled throughout their tour of India, is set to land in Dhaka at 10:30 PM, while the women's team, eliminated from first round of the T20 World Cup in the UAE, will arrive at 11:20 PM.
The men's team, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, headed to India with high hopes after a 2-0 Test series win against Pakistan. However, the tour turned out to be disastrous, with the team failing to perform both with the bat and ball. Bangladesh lost the first Test by a margin of 280 runs, and the second Test was over in less than two days. The T20 series also followed the same pattern, with Bangladesh being whitewashed 3-0, suffering from continuous batting collapses.
The women's team, led by Nigar Sultana Joty, had a slightly better outing but still returned without reaching their goal. Despite starting their T20 World Cup campaign with a victory over Scotland, marking their third-ever win in a women's T20 World Cup, they failed to progress beyond the group stage. Losses to England, West Indies, and South Africa ended their hopes of advancing to the semi-finals. Although Joty and her team aimed to make it to the semi-finals, they will take some pride in their historic win.
However, both teams return home with much to reflect on as they prepare for future challenges.
