GOPALGANJ, Oct 12: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) arrested a young man from Sadar Upazila on Friday night for reportedly attempting to violate a minor girl in Kotalipara Upazila of the district.
The arrested man is Monotosh Modhu, 24.
RAB sources said that on October 4 last, the child, a second grader at a local school in Kotalipara Upazila, was sleeping alone in her room of the house at around 10 pm as her family members were outside. At that time, the accused went into her room and tried to violate her forcefully.
Then, the accused hit various parts of the girl's body as she was screaming. After that the victim lost her sense and the culprit immediately fled the scene.
The child was then rescued by the family members and taken to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex first, where the on-duty doctor referred her to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital following the deterioration of her condition.
Later on, the victim's father filed a case with Kotalipara Police Station (PS) on August 8 last in this connection.
Following this, a team of RAB-6 conducted a drive in Gandiasur area under Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday night, and arrested the accused.
During the primary interrogation, the arrested man admitted his involvement with the incident and late, he was handed over to the PS.
