A youth was arrested for reportedly raping a second grader girl from Sadar upazila in Gopalganj district on Friday night.
The arrested man is Monotosh Modhu, 24.
Earlier, on October 4, the child was sleeping alone in her room at around 10:00pm as her family members were outside. At that time, the accused went into her room and tried to violate her forcefully.
Then, the accused hit various parts of the girl's body as she was screaming. After that the victim lost her sense and the culprit fled from the scene.
The child was rescued and taken to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex, she was later transferred to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
On August 8, the victim's father filed a case with Kotalipara Police Station in this incident.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6 conducted a raid in Sadar upazila and arrested the accused from Gandiasur area, said an official of RAB-6.
The arrested man admitted his involvement with the incident and he was handed over to the police station, the RAB official added.
