Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder on Friday said people of all religions celebrate their respective religious events amid festivity in Bangladesh.

"Like every year, people of the country's Hindu community are celebrating the puja in a nice manner," he said.

The adviser made the remark while addressing the devotees and worshipers after visiting the Puja Mandap at Siddheshwari Kali Mandir in Dhaka on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Dr Bidhan Ranjan said people of all religions have been living in peace and harmony in Bangladesh for a long time.

"There are miscreants in society who want to destroy communal harmony. If we can uphold harmony and solidarity, then miscreants will never achieve their objectives," he said.

Later, the adviser distributed clothes to the needy there, said a PID handout.    —UNB
