Desperate Tigresses eye on win against West Indies today

After a historic win against Scotland in the inaugural match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Bangladesh missed the chance to defeat England despite restricting them to under 120 runs. The Tigresses will face West Indies today, aiming for a crucial victory to keep their semifinal hopes alive.

The match is scheduled to start at 8:00pm (BST) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.

Bangladesh's bowlers have been impressive in both previous matches holding their opponents under 120 runs each time. Ritu Moni has claimed four wickets so far, while Fahima Khatun and Nahida Akter have taken three wickets each, with Rabeya Khan taking two. Marufa Akter has also delivered effective spells.

However, the batting lineup has underperformed, with Sobhana Mostari being the only player to score over 30 runs in both games. Dilara Akter, Shathi Rani, skipper Nigar Sultana Joty and Taj Nehar need to step up for Bangladesh to improve their chances.

Like Bangladesh, West Indies have won one match and lost one. They have several match-winners including skipper Hayley Matthews, Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle, Deandra Dottin, Aaliyah Alleyne, Chedean Nation, Afy Fletcher and Karishma Ramharack. They are also struggling to perform with the bat and hence there have equal chances for both the rivals.

West Indies are the favourites in this contest, having won all three previous encounters between the sides.

The Sharjah pitch traditionally favours spinners, with slow bowlers often dominating. Nevertheless, batters can take advantage of the shorter boundaries. The weather forecast predicts sunny, hot and humid conditions and the team winning the toss is likely to bat first and aim for a strong total.
