Abul Hasanat Abdullah, president of Barishal district unit of Awami League and a cousin of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and 13 others were sued in murder case over the killing of a BNP man in Barishal in 2015.
Ashikur Rahman Asif, son of a victim named Kabir Hossain Roni from Nagar Kathi village in Agailjhara upazila, filed the case with the Barishal Judicial Magistrate Mokhlesur Rahman’s court on Tuesday.
After reviewing the statement, the court asked the officer-in-charge of the concern police station to take it as First Information Report (FIR).
The other accused in the case include --- former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Barishal Police Humayun Kabir, Additional DIG Akram Hossain, Superintendent of Police Jahangir Mallik, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ehsanullah. Besides, 30 to 40 unnamed individuals were made accused in the case.
According to the case documents, Kabir Hossain Roni, who was involved in BNP politics, was arrested in Dhaka and later, was killed in crossfire on February 21, 2015.
Asif said Abul Hasanat Abdullah and the law enforcement agencies killed his father in crossfire at that time.
