Bangladeshi youth shot dead by BSF along Cumilla border

A Bangladeshi youth was shot to death by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday evening in Cumilla's Sadar South upazila.

The incident happened at around 7:00pm inside Inidan border near Paharpur union under Golaria union in the upazila. 

The deceased was identified as Kamal Hossain, 32, son of Eidu Miah, a resident of Fakirpura area under Golaria union in the upazila. 

Lt Col Iftekhar Hossain, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-10 in Cumilla, said that Kamal was shot to death by BSF after entering approximately 25 meters into Indian territory through the border।

Later, the body was taken by the BSF.

BGB has since initiated contact with the BSF, and a flag meeting has been scheduled at 12:00pm on Tuesday to discuss the situation, he added.

Investigatios are ongoing why Kamrul went into the India border, he further added.
