Two people were electrocuted in separate incidents in Sadullapur and Palashbari upazilas of Gaibandha on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Gafur Ali, 85, a resident of Moddhopara Village under Dhaparhat Union in Sadullapur Upazila; and Habizar Rahman, 52, a resident of Kazirbazar area under Manoharpur Union in Palashbari Upazila.
Local Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Freedom Fighter Abdur Rahman Sarkar said that Abdul Gafur came in contact with a live electric wire while he was connecting an electric bulb near in his house, which left him dead on the spot.
On the other hand, Manoharpur UP Chairman Abdul Wahab Mandal Ripon said that Habizar Rahman came in contact with a live electric wire while while he was repairing electric connection in his house, which left him critically injured.
Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him and took him to Gaibandha General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, the UP chairman added.
