A 21-member convening committee of the Bangladesh Social Welfare Association (BSWA), a newly constituted body of postgraduate students from the Departments of Social Welfare and Social Work, was formed recently.
Dhaka University (DU) Professor Tahmina Akhter was appointed convener of the committee, while senior journalist Shaidul Hossain Shahed was made member secretary, according to a press release.
The committee was announced at a meeting held at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) in Dhaka, chaired by DU Institute of Social Welfare and Research Professor Dr Golam Rabbani.
Other members of the committee include Prof Dr Golam Rabbani, Rajshahi University (RU) Professor Dr Fakhrul Islam, noted businessman and politician ABM Mosharraf Hossain, ESDO Executive Director Dr Mohammad Shahiduzzaman, Additional Secretary Lovelur Rahman, Tax Commissioner Nuruzzaman Khan, Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer Kamrul Islam Sajal, Additional DIG Ashrafuzzaman Dola, Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP's Tejgaon Zone Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, Deputy Secretary Nazmul Hossain Sohag, MTB Bank Senior Vice-President Khairul Islam, Mohammadpur Central College Professor Abdur Razzak, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, Begum Badrunnesa Government College Professor Shahina Sultana, Jagannath University (JnU) Associate Professor Mostafizur Rahman, renowned businessman Ali Azam Jewel, and eminent social worker Omar Faruque Elin.
