2 cousins drown in Cox's Bazar shrimp enclosure

Two youths drowned in a shrimp enclosure at Pekua upazila in Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

The incident took place around 3:30 PM at Siradia village in the upazila. 
The victims were identified as Abu Bakkar, 6, son of Waz Uddin, and his cousin Nazem Uddin, 5, son of Nazrul Islam. They both were residents of the same village.

According to family members, the incident occurred when the duo slipped into the waterbody while playing on the bank of it. When family members started searching for them, Nazem Uddin's body was found floating in the enclosure, and Abu Bakkar was found dead underwater.

Local Union Parishad (UP) member Md. Manik confirmed the tragic deaths. 

The incident has cast a pall of grief over their family and community.
