The first clash of the three-match T20i series between visiting Bangladesh and hosts India will be held today at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Both teams are eager to take an early lead in the series winning today.
The match scheduled to start at 7:30am (BST).

The game will be held under heightened security due to threats from organizations including the Hindu Mahasabha to disrupt the event. However, the local administration has taken a firm stance banning all forms of protest and deploying over 2,500 police personnel to ensure safety on and before match day.
India will field an almost entirely new-look team as key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20 cricket. Additionally, emerging stars Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have been rested. On the other hand, Bangladesh will be without their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who also retired from the shortest format.

Bangladesh's key returning player is off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who makes his comeback to the T20 squad after a 14-month absence. He is expected to fill the void left by Shakib as a specialist all-rounder. Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim will open the batting for Bangladesh, with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad forming a solid middle order. Either Parvez Hossain Emon or Jaker Ali Anik could feature as the finisher, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain will join the bowling attack led by Mustafizur Rahman. Bangladesh may also include two out of Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed in the pace department, unless they opt for Rakibul Hasan as an additional left-arm spinner.

India meanwhile, have called up Abhishek Sharma as the lone specialist opener. Sanju Samson, who has opened for India five times in his 30-match T20i career, could partner him at the top. New captain Suryakumar Yadav, leading India at home for the first time, will bat at number three followed by Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh-all of whom have made a mark in the IPL. Washington Sundar and either Ravi Bishnoi or Harshit Rana will handle the spin duties, while Mayank Yadav and Arshdeep Singh will lead the pace attack.

India enter the match as clear favorites having won 13 of their 14 previous encounters against Bangladesh, with the latter managing just one victory.

The weather forecast indicates no disruptions promising uninterrupted cricket. The pitch at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium is expected to be favorable for batters with good pace and bounce. The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first to post a challenging total.
