2 cousins electrocuted in Feni

Two children died from electrocution in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 11:00 AM in the West Dormopur area under Jaylaskar union.

The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam Niloy, 10, son of Alahuddin, and Nazifa Aktar, 7, daughter of Salah Uddin, both residents of the area.

According to locals and police, a wire had torn and fallen into stagnant water, electrifying it. The two children were electrocuted when they touched the water while playing.

They were rescued and taken to Daganbhuiyan Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Upon receiving the information, police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families, said Md Lutfar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Daganbhuiyan Police Station.

A case will be filed in this regard, the OC added.
