4 AL leaders held in Bogura

Police arrested four Awami League leaders and activists at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district on Thursday in a case filed over cocktail explosions in a rally of Bhatara union BNP.

Police arrested them in a drive from various places in the upazila during the day.

The arrested men are Mahmud Ashraf, secretary of the Nandigram upazila Awami League unit; Ferdaus Alam, president of Ward No. 2 Nandigram municipality Awami League; Saidul Islam, president of Ward No 7 under Bhatara union and activist Masud Rana.

Earlier, on September 15, BNP leader Shafiqul Islam filed a case with the police station over the explosion mentioning 111 names of Awami League leaders and activists along with 20-25 unnamed people.

Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Nandigram Police Station, said the arrested people were sent to the jail through the court of Friday.
