5 AL men held in Turag

Police arrested five Awami League (AL) and Jatiya Shramik League leaders and activists on Tuesday night from Turag, on the outskirts of the capital city, in two separate murder cases.

The arrested men are: President of Dhaka North Jatiya Shramik League Mamun Mia, 54 no ward AL Vice-President Md Abdul Motalib and activists Sabbir, Maruf and Ibrahim.
They were arrested for what police said for “killing of two persons including a student in separate attacks on protesters during the Student-People Movement in Uttara in the city”. 

The victims were identified as Nurul Afsar, a student and Sanjid Hossain Mridha. They were shot dead during the movement in Uttara on August 5.
