Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has achieved a significant milestone by breaking into the top five of ICC Test all-rounder rankings, marking the highest point in his career so far.
Miraz's impressive performances in recent Test series against Pakistan and India played a crucial role in his ascent up the rankings. During Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan, he showcased his all-round skills by claiming a five-wicket haul and scoring a vital half-century, which were instrumental in securing back-to-back wins for Bangladesh.
Before facing India, Miraz was ranked seventh in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. However, his consistent displays with both bat and ball saw him rise two spots, landing him among the top five all-rounders globally.
While Mehidy Hasan Miraz reached new heights, his teammate Shakib Al Hasan experienced a decline, dropping out of the top 50 batters for the first time in 14 years. Shakib struggled with his batting form during the Pakistan and India series, impacting his rankings as a batsman. Nonetheless, he managed to retain his position among the top five all-rounders in Test cricket.
Currently, India's Ravindra Jadeja leads the all-rounder rankings in Tests, while Jasprit Bumrah holds the top position among Test bowlers. England's Joe Root continues to dominate as the number one Test batter in the world.
