BGB enhances security at Satkhira Puja mandaps

BGB (Bangladesh Border Guard) personnel have been deployed in several Puja mandaps in the border areas along Satkhira border to maintain law and order and increase public confidence and morale on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Hindu Community.

BGB has been seen patroling the places of worship on Wednesday. Under the responsibility of BGB-33 Satkhira Battalion, this patrolling operation has started in the border from Wednesday morning.

The information was confirmed through a press release sent from BGB-33 Battalion Headquarters.

According to BGB sources, Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Sanatan religions, will be held from October 8 to 13.  On this occasion, BGB's Satkhira Battalion has started patrolling in the Puja mandaps of the border area from the morning of October 2. There are a total of 40 mandaps, 20 in Satkhira Sadar upazila and 20 in Kalaroa upazila within 8 km of the border area under the responsibility of the battalion.  
Meanwhile, the BGB patrol team on-duty in the area has been divided into 2 tax forces and divided into 4 sections by two platoons of BGB members.

BGB patrols will monitor the places of worship with CCTV cameras, generators, adequate volunteers, whether there is any risk of attack by miscreants in the places of worship. Also monitoring the reach of mandaps within 30 minutes from beige camp. Beige camps will be set up near the shrines which require more than 30 minutes to reach, confirmed Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ashraful Haque, the captain of BGB-33 Satkhira Battalion.
