Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) Wednesday predicted light to moderate rain over the country for the next 24 hours from 9am Wednesday.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places in Chattogram, Barishal and Sylhet divisions", it said.
The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay, reports BSS.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
Day and night temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsius in the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.3 degrees Celsius at Mongla and minimum temperature today was recorded 25.2 degrees Celsius at Bandarban.
Country's highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 23 millimeters (mm) at Sandwip.
The sun sets at 05:44 PM Wednesday and rises at 05:51 AM Thursday in the capital.
