Ashrayan Project House Fire

Six of a family burnt to death in Sunamganj

SUNAMGANJ, Oct 1: Six members of a family, including four children, were burnt to death as a fire broke out at their house, built under Ashrayan project, in Dharmapasha upazila here early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Emarul, 50, his wife Poly Akther, 45, their children - Polash, 9, Farhad, 7, Fatema Begum, 5, and Omar Faruk, 4.
"The fire broke out at the house at around 12:00am. People staying in the house could not come out from the house after the fire broke out while local people could not rescue them as the house was locked from inside." said Chairman of Joysree union parishad Sanjay Chowdhury.

Later, locals entered the house and found all the six members of the family burnt to death, he added.

Enamul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Dharmapasha Police Station, confirmed the incident, saying, "We are looking into the matter. We are not sure about the reason behind the fire." Assistant police Super of Dharmapasha circle Ali Farid visited the spot.
