A fugitive convict of life-term jail sentence in a dacoity case of Fulchari in Gaibandha district has been arrested after long 36 years.
Abdul Moti, 60, was arrested from Debirpat Bazar in Saptibari union under Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat district on Tuesday morning, said Fulchari Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Razifuzzaman Basunia.
Arrested Abdul Moti is an inhabitant of village Dakshin Rasulpur under Fulchari upazila.
Fulchari Police Station's OC Razifuzzaman Basunia said on March 26, 1988, a regular case was filed against three miscreants for committing the dacoity. After filing the case, Abdul Moti went on hiding and remain fugitive for long 36 years avoiding law enforcers.
Acting on a tip, at the directive of Gaibandha district police, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Abdul Qayyum arrested him at about 5:00am on Tuesday. The convict was sent to the Gaibandha District and Sessions Judge Court in the early afternoon.
