JHENIDAH, Sept 30: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) destroyed narcotics worth about Tk 35 crore at the ground of BGB-58 Battalion headquarters in Khalishpur under Maheshpur Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The drugs were seized at different raids since March 14, 2023 to January in 2024, said the media wing of BGB-58.
Kushtia BGB Sector Commander Col Maruful Abedeen, BGB-58 Captain Lt Col Shah Md Azizus Shaheed, Chief Judicial Magistrate Joyonto Bishwas, District Narcotics Directorate officer Golak Majumder, and Additional Superintendent of Police (Kotchandpur Circle) Munna Biswas were present at the programme.
The estimated market value of the destroyed drugs that include 49,080 bottles of local and foreign liquor, 12,463 bottles of Indian phensidyl, 76 kg of hemp, 871 yaba pills, is about Tk 35 crore, the media wing added.
