A garment worker was shot to death and at least 30 others were injured in a clash between police and workers in Savar's Ashulia on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Kawsar Hosssain, 27, a worker of Khan Mango Text Limited Garments Factory.

Yusuf Ali, duty officer of Enam Medical College Hospital, confirmed the death around 2:30PM.

Two other workers--Noyan and Russel--who also sustained bullet injuries, are receiving treatment at the same hospital, he added.

Yusul Ali said Kawsar was brought to the hospital dead.

Earlier, hundreds of workers blocked Nabinagar-Chandra highway around 10:00am, demanding to increase their salary.
