Two people including a schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in two districts - Sherpur and Noakhali, in two days.
SHERPUR: A construction worker reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Sreebardi Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Habibullah, 35, son of Sharafat Ali of Chithlia Para Village in the upazila.
It was known that Habibullah along with his wife and two children lived in his father-in-law's house in Uttar Khoshalpur Village of the upazila.
On Tuesday night, he hanged himself from the branch of a mango tree next to his in-law's house.
His brother-in-law Billal Hossain spotted his hanging body at around 4:30 am on Wednesday when he woke up for performing Fazr prayers.
Being informed, police recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sreebardi Police Station (PS) Sirajul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
NOAKHALI: A schoolgirl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in the district town on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Mrittika Paul, 13, daughter of Usha Ranjan Paul, a resident of Ward No. 5 under Noakhali Municipality.
She was a sixth grader at Noakhali Government Girls High School.
Local sources said the girl's father, seeing her busy with mobile phone, asked her to leave the phone and concentrate on her studies.
Following this, Mrittika hanged herself from the window grill of her room in the house at around 9:15 pm out of huff with her father.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and handed it over to the deceased's family members without an autopsy as per their request.
