Dengue has claimed the highest number of lives in the current month.
At least 50 people died of dengue in the last 23 days while the second highest number of deaths at 27 was recorded in August.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has seen the worst dengue situation this year.
The highest number of dengue cases at 5,997 was recorded since January 1 in the areas under DSCC which is 24.08 per cent of the total patients.
According to the DGHS, 24,900 people were attacked with dengue.
At least 74 people who resided in DSCC died of the disease this year and it is four times more than the second highest deaths in Chattogram, barring the Chattogram City Corporation area.
About 55.63 per cent of the total deaths were recorded in the DSCC as 133 people died of dengue across the country since January 1.
Dengue claimed two lives on Monday. At least 866 people suffering from dengue were admitted to different hospitals across the country on this day. However, 914 people were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Local Government Division under the LGRD Ministry on Monday formed 10 teams to tackle the current seasonal dengue outbreak across the country.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting in the conference room of the Secretariat.
LGD Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman presided over the meeting.
Among the ten teams, four teams will operate in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and three teams in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
The meeting discussed creating public awareness to protect citizens from dengue infection, destroying mosquito breeding grounds, conducting cleanliness campaigns, and implementing mosquito and larva eradication measures.
Each of the other three teams will function at Narayanganj, Gazipur, and Chittagong city corporations.
Additionally, another team has been formed for high-risk municipalities such as Savar, Dohar, Tarabo, and Rupganj, among others.
Another seven member committee was formed to coordinate efforts and collect information on dengue outbreak management. This committee includes senior officials from the LGD such as additional secretaries and joint secretaries as team leaders.
The designated officials of these teams will coordinate daily with the chief executive officers of the city corporations and municipalities to inspect at least three dengue outbreak areas daily and monitor dengue prevention activities.
LGD's data collection committee will regularly submit reports on the measures taken and operations conducted to combat the dengue outbreak.
To increase public awareness, regular updates on the steps taken and operations conducted to combat dengue will be published on websites, mass media, and social media platforms.
